For decades, surgeons, anesthesiologists and perfusionists have studied the causes and effects of hemodilution, systemic inflammatory response and neurologic deficit in attempts to minimize the negative consequences of cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB).
Terumo is now introducing a new oxygenator that addresses these three perfusion risks. The Capiox NX19® oxygenator with UltraPrime™ Technology is Terumo’s smallest, most advanced full-size adult oxygenator to date featuring high gas transfer utilizing new proprietary hollow fiber, reduced surface area and enhanced GME removal technology. To maintain an optimal metabolic status of the patient while being supported on cardio-pulmonary bypass Terumo has also developed the new CDI® Blood Parameter Monitoring System 550.
With the addition of inline monitoring of oxygen delivery (DO2) together with 11 other critical blood parameters, CDI System 550 provides the continuous information needed to reduce the risk of acute kidney injury, improve patient outcomes and save hospital costs.
In combination the new products help to reduce hemodilution and ensure sufficient oxygen delivery during cardiac surgery thus contributing to improved patient outcomes.
