Profile of Dr Ross Waller

Research interests in the Waller lab
The origin of cellular life on Earth was an apparently inevitable miracle. Since then cells have continued to evolve seemingly improbable complexity and sophistication. We find this beautiful, wonderful and exciting. Our ambition is to better understand the diversity of cell organisations, functions and processes, how they evolved, and how they contribute to modern life as we know it. In particular, we are interested in: how some cells have become ingenious but dangerous parasites; how unrelated cells can join forces to form permanent symbiotic partnerships; and how cells’ information storage systems have found new solutions to old problems.

We are based in the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Cambridge, and welcome new members, collaborators, and visitors.
