Profile of Prof Derrick Robinson

I was born in Britain and carried out my PhD studies at the university of Manchester in 1992. In 1993 with funding from the Wellcome Trust, I worked for one-year at ILRI, Nairobi, Kenya where characterised antibodies raised to cytoskeleton proteins in natural and artificial trypanosome infections. In 1996 and as part of a second Wellcome Trust fellowship I worked at Johns Hopkins University on kinetoplast DNA replication and segregation. I moved to Bordeaux, France in 2001 and set up a research group which is involved in identifying novel, essential cytoskeleton proteins. I am currently, Director of Research/Professor, focused on the biogenesis of the cytoskeleton in trypanosomes, Leishmania and Toxoplasma parasites.
