Profile of Dr Francisco Medeiros
Francisco Medeiros joined the European Commission in 2000, initially working on EU Radio Spectrum policy. In 2003, he moved to the R&D side of the Commission services; he was appointed as Deputy Head of Unit, Networked Media Systems in January 2012.In August 2012, he became Deputy Head of Unit, Software & Services, Cloud Computing, where he is involved in the implementation of the Digital Single Market strategy as far as cloud computing aspects are concerned. He also oversees research and innovation programmes related to Software Technologies and Cloud Computing. Before joining the Commission, he was General Manager of the Telecommunications Technologies Division with NEC Europe based in London (1990-2000).Between 1986 and 1990, he was with the Radio Frequency Technology Division of ERA Technology Ltd, an independent research organisation based in Leatherhead, UK.He was a Fulbright Scholar in 1983 and an ITU Fellow in 1984 with the United States Telecommunications Training Institute (USA). He has a PhD Degree in Electrical Engineering from University College London. He is an IEEE Senior Member and a Member of the IET (UK).
