Profile of Prof Sheena Cruickshank
The principal theme of our group’s research is in understanding how the body distinguishes threat from benefit in order to initiate appropriate immune responses to pathogens, damaging agents or commensal bacteria.
As well as fundamental lab research we do a lot of outreach work working with communities based in the UK and abroad to discuss the impact of parasite infection.
Sheena is the academic lead for public engagement at The University of Manchester and has been acting as a change agent driving a process of institutional change to create a more supportive environment for staff and students to do public engagement work.
