Profile of Dr Ellen Singer
Qualified: Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine. Institution/Practice: Musculoskeletal Biology, Institute of Aging and Chronic Disease and School of Veterinary Medicine, University of Liverpool, Leahurst, Chester High Road, Neston CH64 7TE, UK. Career: Following graduation, I spent 3 years in mixed and equine practice prior to completing a DVSc programme at the Ontario Veterinary College. Following this combined graduate degree and residency programme, I spent 2 years at the Koret School of Veterinary Medicine in Israel prior to joining the University of Liverpool. I obtained my Diploma of the ACVS in 1997, joining the ECVS the same year.
Interests: Clinical interests include lameness, diagnostic imaging and orthopaedic conditions of the performance horse. Research interests focus on the epidemiology of injury in the elite equine athlete, especially race and event horses. The adaptation of the musculoskeletal system to exercise is a particular interest, including the influence of biomechanical loading on joint kinematics, bone strain and bone modelling.
