Jose Castaneda

"Jose joined Digital Realty in 2013 after a career of more than 15 years in the Building Services consultancy industry. His role and responsibility is to oversee the mechanical design of all Digital Realty Projects in the Asia Pacific region, with particular focus in bringing best practices to the different climate conditions existing in the region.

Prior to joining Digital Realty, Jose was a Director with a multinational engineering consultancy, with a strong focus in energy efficiency and sustainable construction. Key projects in the past are Procter & Gamble research facilities (UK), One Hyde Park in London (UK), HBOS data centres in Halifax and Pudsey, (UK) and Telefonica Alcala Tier IV data centre (Spain). He has experience in energy and water efficient data centres and has been involved in large scale developments using both direct and indirect outside air economisation technologies and high efficiency conventional systems.

Jose graduated from the Polytechnic University of Madrid in 1993 with a First Class Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He is a member of ASHRAE, a LEED accredited professional, and Uptime Institute Accredited Tier Designer and has an MSc in Environmental Decision Making at the Open University (UK). He has been in the board of the Spanish Green Building Council and has been a Building Services lecturer at MSc level at Camilo Jose Cela University (Madrid, Spain).
