Profile of Mr Charles Cooke
Qualifications: BSc(Hons) BVetMed Cert(Stud Medicine) MRCVS.
Qualified: Royal Veterinary College, London. Institution/Practice: Equine Reproductive Services (UK) Ltd.
Career: Charles qualified in 2000 and worked with Dr Jonathan Pycock at Equine Reproductive Services, Malton, UK and in the Southern Hemisphere for 4 years. In 2004 he moved to Rossdale and Partners, Newmarket and worked predominately on Thoroughbred studs but was also involved with the breeding of Suffolk Punch horses and Connemaras. After a short time in Somerset he moved back to Yorkshire before rejoining Equine Reproductive Services (UK) Ltd in 2013. He completed the RCVS Equine Stud Medicine Certificate in 2008 and has been an honorary lecturer at Liverpool University since 2014. He is involved in all aspects of equine stud medicine including natural, artificial insemination and embryo transfer breeding methods on all types of horses and ponies. Aside from the reproductive work he is regularly involved in racing, sport horse and pleasure horse veterinary care.
Interests: Charles has an interest in youngstock management and preventative medicine on the stud farm, treatment of the ‘sub-fertile’ mare, fetal sexing and the management of hormone-related behavioural problems in competition horses.
