Profile of Miss Gemma Pearson
Qualifications: BVMS MRCVS.
Qualified: Glasgow. Institution/Practice: University of Edinburgh.
Career: After graduating Gemma worked in a first opinion equine practice in Yorkshire for 18 months before undertaking an internship in the ambulatory practice at the R(D)SVS. At the end of this she spent 6 weeks at the Australian Equine Behaviour Centre completing an Associate Diploma in Equitation Science. She then returned to the R(D)SVS and started a residency. As well as undertaking a CertAVP (Equine Medicine) and a master’s degree through research, it has given her the opportunity to develop an equine behaviour service. She is also the current Veterinary Liaison Officer for the International Society for Equitation Science.
Interests: Equine behaviour - her master’s degree looks at the horse-veterinarian interactions and how we can improve them to make our working lives both safer and less stressful.
