Career: Andy Bathe is a partner at Rossdales Newmarket. His main areas of speciality lie in orthopaedic surgery, lameness and poor performance, especially in sport horses; and in the application of novel diagnostic and therapeutic techniques. He is a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons, holds the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Diploma in Equine Orthopaedics and is recognised by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons as a Specialist in Equine Surgery. He recently become a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation. He qualified from Cambridge University Veterinary School and then trained in surgery at the University of Bristol and then at Rossdales. After working as University Equine Surgeon at the University of Cambridge he returned to Rossdales to head the Equine Sports Injuries Clinic. He has been team vet to the Japanese and British Three Day Event Teams and the British Pony Showjumping Team, at European and World Championship and Olympic level. He was a Veterinary Clinical Expert at the 2012 London Olympics. Interests: His basic research interests have focused on the aetiology of fractures, and now onto proximal suspensory desmitis. He is a frequent speaker at national and international meetings, especially those near ski resorts. He is Scientific Program Chair for the Veterinary Orthopaedic Society.
