Qualified: The Royal Veterinary College. Institution/Practice: University of Oxford, Windmill Road.
Career: Stephanie graduated from the RVC in 2003. After undertaking an internship in equine orthopaedics and imaging at the Animal Health Trust, she spent 4 years in equine practice in Cheshire and Derbyshire. In 2008, Stephanie commenced a PhD at the RVC researching the role of inflammation in equine tendinopathy, which was successfully completed in 2012. During this time, Stephanie was also involved in investigating the potential of BMMSC’s for the treatment of equine tendon injuries and developing noninvasive methods to determine limb stiffness in horses with tendinopathy. After returning to clinical work as an equine radiologist, Stephanie moved to the University of Oxford and in December 2013 was awarded an Arthritis Research UK Fellowship to advance and translate her research on equine tendons into human tendinopathy. Interests: Stephanie’s research focuses on investigating inflammation, pain and fibrosis in pathological human and equine musculoskeletal soft tissues. The purpose of this work is to facilitate identification of potential therapeutic targets to improve future management of tendon injuries for horses and humans. Stephanie’s clinical interests include orthopaedics and imaging, particularly advanced imaging modalities for the equine distal limb.
