Mrs Karen Coumbe

Qualified: University of Cambridge (1984). Institution/Practice: Partner at Bell Equine Vet Clinic, Mereworth, Maidstone, Kent ME18 5GS, UK. Career: Worked in mixed practice for 5 years and then moved to set up Bell Equine with a colleague in 1989, the same year as passing the RCVS certificate in Equine Practice. At the hospital Karen has been responsible for anaesthesia, which is her special interest, having passed the RCVS Certificate in Veterinary Anaesthesia in 2008. Also in 2008 she had a 3 month sabbatical in Hong Kong to work as part of the vet team at the Beijing Olympic Games.

Interests: Practical equine anaesthesia and analgesia; emergency equine anaesthesia, particularly for trauma cases and colics; avoiding equine anaesthetic complications encountered far too many over the years! Keeps bees and Sussex beef cows. Veterinarian Associate member of FEI Vet Commission for 2012 Games, responsible for Paralympics.
