Profile of Chon Leong Yoon
Obtained his degree in Electrical Engineering from Monash University, Melbourne in 1973, and spent the next 30 years working for Hewlett-Packard and Agilent Technologies in various capacities, of which 20 years was in Research, Development and IT.
In January 2006, Yoon retired from Agilent Technologies and co- founded several high tech start-up companies (including a cloud HR company) in Penang, some of which have since won prestigious national awards for innovation excellence. He is also a founding member of the Penang Science Cluster.
Today, he continues to be an active contributor in the areas of industry development for Malaysia. In 2010 he published 3 papers on the subject of technology development for the electronics industry in Malaysia, specifically for the development of the model for the industry eco-system that is necessary for local companies to thrive.
In 2014, Yoon received the DSPN award in Penang for his work on the development of Science, R&D and Education.
