Chee Wai Yap

Chee Wai has 23 years of industry experience in the ICT field. His main expertise is in system integration, network, middleware, web and mobile technologies especially in software integration, and turning business strategy and vision into realities through the use of ICT. Currently, as Head of ICT in Johor Port, he is the main driver for the transformation of ICT to provide the competitive edge to the business, and manages all facets of information communication technology management and control. Prior to Johor Port, he has held many key roles throughout his working years with different multinational companies. He was the Head of Asia South Sub Domain SDP for Ericsson and Deputy Head of IT and Head of Delivery for YTL Communications. He was part of the strategic planning team that strategize and finalize the Go-to-Market Strategies for YTL Communications. He was also one of the founders for Infointact Sdn Bhd – a startup consultancy firm focusing on Mobile Marketing, Contents and Apps, and SOA. During his early working years with Sun Microsystems Inc, he was an IT Architect, Java Evangelist and SE Manager. Chee Wai worked closely with customer to create the future proof IT Architecture and was involved in Java related projects in terms of designing, architecting and implementation. He was also involved in the key financial portal projects for major local financial institutions including MayBank2U, CIMB and RHB. Prior to Sun, he was attached to Hewlett Packard as a senior system engineer. Chee Wai has a B.Sc. and a B.E.(Honours) from Monash University, Victoria, Australia. Australia.
