Profile of Rose Smith
Rose Smith is a doctoral candidate in a joint program at Charles University (Czech Republic) and the University of Groningen (Netherlands) as well as a researcher at the Institute of Ethnology, Czech Academy of Sciences, focusing on museum and memory studies. Her dissertation develops the concept of "the post-communist exotic," exploring how museums in Central Europe recontextualize the communist past to shape national and transnational identities. With a BA in Political Science and a BA in European Studies from Ateneo de Manila University, as well as master’s degrees from University College London, Charles University, and Ural Federal University, Smith is also involved in international research collaborations, contributing to discussions on memory, identity, and museology.
