Profile of Oleksandr Kravchuk

My PhD thesis (2017) on ‘“Governorship in Taurida Governorate: the anthropology of power (1802–1854)” led to positions as an assistant lecturer and then associate professor at the Department of History, Fevzi Yakubov Crimean Engineering and Pedagogical University (Simferopol) between 2015 and 2022, and as research fellow at the Museum of History, V.I. Vernadsky Crimean Federal University (Simferopol) from 2017 to 2021.
As a Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Bristol and a participant in the "Researchers at Risk" programme my current research interests centre around the history of the Russian Empire's colonization of Crimea and South Ukraine in the late eighteenth and first half of the nineteenth centuries, as well as the administrative history of this region.
