Profile of Dr Mattie Pawlowic
The Mattie Christine Pawlowic lab studies Cryptosporidium parasites at the University of Dundee in Dundee, Scotland. We are located at the Wellcome Centre for Anti-Infectives Research and in the Division of Biological Chemistry and Drug Discovery. Our division is home to other parasitology labs (David Horn, Marcus Lee, and Susan Wyllie’s Mode of Action group), the Drug Discovery Unit, and the Centre for Targeted Protein Degradation (CeTPD). Our building houses most of the School of Life Sciences, which includes over 900 scientists in over 70 biological science laboratories.
We study the basic biology of this important parasite, collaborate with scientists at Moredun Research Institute to improve our understanding of host-pathogen interaction, and collaborate with Drug Discovery scientists and the Mode-of-Action group to translate our work into real world impact.
We are a group of career scientists, postdoctoral researchers, PhD and Masters students, and undergraduates (and 1 toddler) enthusiastic about learning more about this fascinating organism. You can read more about our work HERE.
Dundee is a great place to do science and a wonderful place to live. With a small-town feel, but plenty of good coffee and access to amazing outdoors.
