Profile of Dr MD Hasanuzzaman Talukder

Dr. Talukder is a Professor of Parasitology at Bangladesh Agricultural University. He had started his career as a Lecturer in the same Department in 1999. He had obtained Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and MS in Parasitology from BAU and PhD from Yamaguchi University in Japan in March 2009 with excellent course credits. His PhD dissertation was on the alpha2-adrenoceptor imidazoline receptor mediated actions of agonists and antagonists in dogs and participated in the development of in vitro atovaquone-resistant Babesia gibsoni with a single-nucleotide polymorphism in cytb. During his Postdoctoral Fellowship (2010-2012) in West Virginia Univ. USA, he had worked on the Adenosine receptor mediation actions in a mouse model. He had participated in a training on the culture of Trypanosome and drug sensitivity tests at the Biological Chemistry and Drug Discovery unit of the Univ of Dundee as an UK-Researchers Links Grant Awardee. Dr Talukder had an opportunity to work on the immunobiology of Trichuris muris model at the Centre for Biodiscovery and Molecular Development of Therapeutics in James Cook Univ. Cairns Australia, as an Endeavour Research Fellow. He had also been awarded Australia Awards Ambassador in 2017 by the Australian High Commissioner to India (New Delhi) as an outstanding academician of the region. He has published research results in several national and international journals His research interest centered on the zoonotic and food-borne parasites, genetic diversity and extracellular vesicles, immuno-parasitology and anthelmintic resistance and drug discovery to understand interactive nature of host–parasite biology. Dr Talukder established a new C. elegans Model Lab recently. He has produced PhD and MS graduates from his Lab and currently a number of PhD and MS students have been working in his Lab and leading few projects as PI. https://www.bau.edu.bd/profile/VPAR1003
