Profile of Lada Kolomiyets

Lada Kolomiyets is a DSc (Philology) in Translation Studies, Professor of the Taras Shevchenko National U of Kyiv, and Visiting Prof. at Dartmouth College. She has held Fulbright Fellowships (at the U of Iowa and Pennsylvania State U), the Wenner-Gren Fellowship (Sweden), and the Harris Foundation Distinguished Professorship (USA). An interdisciplinary researcher in literature and translation studies, with three monographs, several textbooks for graduate students, literary anthologies, numerous chapters in collective volumes and articles published in Ukrainian and English in the leading peer-reviewed journals. She is contributing editor of the book Living the Independence Dream: Ukraine and Ukrainians in Contemporary Socio-Political Context (Vernon Press, 2024), co-author of encyclopedic articles – in The Routledge Handbook of Translation and Censorship and The Routledge Handbook of the History of Translation Studies (2024), collective volumes such as Russian Literary Translation in the Global Context (2024), Translation under Communism (2022), and the English-Ukrainian Dictionary of Linguistic Terminology (2013), among other editions. Her most recent publications are chapters in the books Language and Power in Ukraine and Kazakhstan: Essays on Education, Ideology, Literature, Practice, and the Media (2024), Normativity and Resilience in Translation and Culture (2024), Translation Studies in Ukraine as an Integral Part of the European Context (2023), etc. A poet-translator and member of the National Writers’ Union of Ukraine, with published translations of contemporary poetry (English↔Ukrainian).
