Profile of Yana Prymachenko
A native of Ukraine, Yana Prymachenko received her Ph.D. from the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. She has been a senior research scholar at the Institute of History of Ukraine since 2003. Her research interests span Soviet history of the 1920s–30s, the Second World War, memory politics in Russia and Eastern Europe, and Soviet propaganda. She is the author and co-author of ten books on Ukrainian history and has made significant media contributions to promoting historical knowledge in the public sphere. Dr. Prymachenko has authored more than 100 scientific, encyclopedic, and journalistic articles. In October 2024, she joined the Ukrainian History Global Initiative, focusing on Soviet terror. She currently lives and works in Princeton, NJ.
