Profile of Eduard Abrahamyan
I am an early career scholar specializing in international relations and comparative politics with a visionary approach. Over the past decade, I have developed expertise in studying, writing, and teaching various aspects of international politics. My primary research interest lies in the geopolitics of Russia and post-Soviet Eurasia, where I explore the complex dynamics in the post-Soviet domains through a strong background in international relations theory and a passion for interdisciplinary research in critical security studies, political geography, and international political economy. My research approach focuses on interpretivist research analysis, qualitative and mixed method research, and a multi-level analysis approach towards the Black Sea, Caucasus, and Central Asia regions. Within these areas, I examine the relational aspects of power, polarity, influence, dependency, interstate rivalries and asymmetrical relationships. Specifically, I investigate regional hierarchies, orders, distinct value systems, and norms that shape the foreign policy choices and behaviour of regional actors, influenced by system-shaping interests of powers such as Russia, the institutional West, China, Turkey, Iran, and India.
