Ekaterina Shapiro-Obermair

Ekaterina Shapiro-Obermair (1980, Moscow) is a visual artist, curator, and researcher. She has studied art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg, at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, and the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna (1999–2009). Since December 2018, she is a recipient of a DOC Fellowship of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW) at the Institute for Art Theory and Cultural Studies at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. Her research interests lie with (post-)Soviet region, with a focus on visual and memory cultures.
