Profile of Miss Rebecca Hoyle
Rebecca is a PhD student funded by the Perry foundation and the University of Liverpool, working to better understand the epidemiology of rumen fluke infection and improve control of both liver and rumen fluke in sheep and cattle in the UK. She graduated from Keele University in 2014 with a BSc (hons) in Biology with Human Geography, before completing an MSc in Medical Parasitology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, where her research project at the Natural History Museum focused on methods of detecting pre-patent Schistosoma mansoni infections in Biomphalaria snails. She joined the University of Liverpool in 2017, prior to commencing her PhD she worked on projects investigating bluetongue and triclabendazole resistance in Fasciola hepatica.
She is interested in parasite biology, epidemiology and host-parasite interactions, especially between trematodes and their molluscan hosts.
