Profile of Aytac Yurukcu
I conducted research within the contexts of identities, borders, field work, second half of the nineteenth century history, imperial policies and mass media activities. Recently his studies have been connected with the imperial minorities 'Finns and Bulgarians'. I am currently researching Finnish and Bulgarian national movements, media sources, political discussions and enlightenment by using digital humanities methodology and tools, also Finnish-Turkish cultural and historical relations from the late nineteenth century with a focus on Finnish, Russian, and Turkish newspapers, war correspondence, diaries, and reminiscences. His research interests include Russian-Turkish relations, journalism, intellectual history, history of ideas, digital history, digital humanities, cultural history, identity formation, representations, the culture of remembrance, media-communication, and war propaganda.
