Profile of Ivan Ulises Kentros Klyszcz
I am Junior Researcher and a doctoral candidate at the Johan Skytte Institute of Political Studies, University of Tartu, Estonia. My research interests are Russian foreign policy, North Caucasus politics, paradiplomacy and territorial autonomy.
My doctoral research is primarily concerned with diplomatic responses to security needs and conflict situations, bringing in insights from the Eurasian region. At Tartu, I am writing a thesis about sub-state diplomacy in the Russian North Caucasus and how it responds to the security needs of the region during the early 2010s.
My most recent scholarly publication is titled ‘Between cooperation and autonomy. An exploration of the external relations of European regions and their response to the COVID-19 pandemic’ and it was presented at the 2020 ECPR conference.
