Profile of Ioana Zamfir
I’m a second-year MA student at the Centre for European, Russian, and Eurasian Studies. I received an Honors BA with distinction in history and international development from McGill University in 2021 and my graduate research on queer lived experiences in Belarus and Moldova during late communism and the 1990s has been supported by the Canada Graduate Scholarship SSHRC, the Ontario Graduate Scholarship, and the Mark Gayn Graduate Scholarship. I am also a Junior Fellow at Massey College and a Harney Graduate Fellow. My broader research interests include Soviet history, Russian disinformation, authoritarian influence, and issues of minorities in Central and Eastern Europe. My first peer-reviewed article was just published in the Aspasia International Yearbook of Central, Eastern, and Southeastern European Women's and Gender History, Vol. 17.
