Profile of Dr Kate Allen
After some time in practice and an internship, Kate did an equine sports medicine residency at Bristol University. She then worked as a research assistant doing the preliminary clinical trials on overground endoscopy, before doing a PhD in soft palate dysfunction in racehorses. She then became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation and is currently senior lecturer in equine sports medicine at Bristol University. Her main interests lie in athletic performance and disorders affecting performance. Her primary research area is dynamic upper respiratory tract obstructions and her current research focus is the muscles of the upper and lower respiratory tracts.
