Profile of Tereza Jiroutová Kynčlová

Tereza Jiroutová Kynčlová is an Assistant Professor in the Graduate Program of Gender Studies at Charles University, Prague. Currently, she is a Senior Fellow with Elisabeth List Fellowship for Gender Research at University of Graz, Austria, focused on Everyday Creativity and Gender in (Post)Socialism. Tereza earned her Ph.D. from Faculty of Arts, Charles University, in American literature and was awarded The Martin Hilský Award for an outstanding doctoral thesis. She holds MAs in English/American studies, political science, and gender studies. Her research focuses on Chicana feminism, border theory, postcolonial and decolonial thought, feminist literary criticism, LatinX writing, and cultural studies. She is a coeditor of Cesta Amerikou: Antologie povídek regionálních spisovatelek [Across America: An Anthology of Short Stories by American Regional Women Writers] (Brno, Host, 2011) for which she translated selected Chicana writings into Czech for the first time. She also coedited Gender v textu a obraznosti: Představa, utopie, maska, sen a fantazie. [Gender, Text and Imagery: Ideas, Utopias, Masks, Dreams and Phantasies] (Prague: Gender Studies, 2016). Tereza co-edited two special issues of Gender and Research (ISSN-print: 2570-6578; ISSN-online: 2570-6586) on Postcolonial and Decolonial Thought in Feminism (2017) and on Gender in Popular Culture and Literature (2022).
