Mr Jose Carlos Paredes-Franco

I'm a PhD candidate working in Prof. Sir Michael Ferguson group at the School of Life Sciences - University of Dundee.
My project focuses on the analysis of a recently found glycosylation activity located in the mitochondria of different trypanosomatids, but uncharacterized in Trypanosoma cruzi, and the search for potential endogenous substrates of this unusual activity using Crithidia fasciculata as our experimental platform.
Briefly, this project involves genetic manipulation, protein characterization, radioactivity-based activity assays and metabolic labelling, and glycan biochemistry.
