Discussion
This presentation examines a selection of women's autobiographies and biographies in order to reclaim their place in the history of the Soviet dissident movements. The close examination of these biographies aims to challenge the marginalisation of women in the historiography of Soviet dissent. The biographies bring to light the various ways in which women's initiatives and support networks made important contributions to sustaining dissident movements. They also serve to highlight important aspects of women's experiences of dissent and the various ways in which the dissident movements were gendered.
