Discussion

Berlin-based translingual poet and dance artist Inna Krasnoper writes and publishes poetry in Russian, English, and German, as well as in combinations of those languages. How do languages overlap, and what is (en)count(er)ed in language mixing? What happens when a physical gesture steps in? With each performative intervention, Inna is interested in setting conditions for communication in real time. What are the grounds for reflecting on poetic practice? How does dance accentuate an existing sequence of words? What is activated in a literary encounter off the page, and will this experience inform your return to a written text? The event will include a discussion with Isobel Palmer and a Q&A.
Inna Krasnoper is a poet and artist born in Ufa and based in Berlin. She graduated from the Chto Delat Collective School of Engaged Art in Saint Petersburg and holds a BA in Dance, Context, Choreography from University of the Arts in Berlin. Her Russophone poetry collections include Nitki torchat (Loose Threads), published by the Voznesensky Center, and Dorogoy chelovek (Dear Person), published by New Literary Observer. Her first English-language poetry collection dis tanz was published by Veliz Books.
