Discussion

This roundtable will bring together readers from different backgrounds and disciplines to discuss Jeremy Morris' book Everyday Russian Politics: From Resentment to Resistance (Bloomsbury 2025). The book should be of interest to political anthropologists and scientists, sociologists, and modern historians alike and is based on many years of fieldwork, including participant observation conducted in Russia since 2022. We envisage discussion about public attitudes in Russia towards the war in Ukraine, topics such as uses of the socialist past and Soviet ontology, gleaning and craft as politics, and methodological concerns. The author will respond as discussant to the four readers' comments.
