Discussion

This paper proposal explores the effectiveness of the Callan Method in accelerating fluency for Polish language learners. The Callan Method, noted for its rapid-response, repetitive, and speech-centred approach, has shown considerable success in English language acquisition, particularly in fostering verbal fluency. This study investigates its application to Polish, a language with intricate phonetic and grammatical complexities.

The research centres on a case study conducted in a London-based language school, involving adult learners who participated in a two-week intensive Callan Method course comprising 20 instructional hours. By utilising both quantitative assessments of fluency and accuracy and qualitative feedback on learners' confidence and engagement, the study evaluates the Callan Method’s effectiveness in advancing conversational proficiency in Polish within a condensed timeframe. Findings aim to inform best practices in accelerated language learning for Polish, offering insights into the adaptability of the Callan Method for other inflected languages with complex structures.
