Background
High speed motorcycle accidents can result in a variety of traumatic injuries. We present cases from our archives of spinal injuries pertaining to motorcycle accidents, including those from motorcycle races, with educational review points and a review of literature.
Objective
To create a pictorial review to aid those involved in major trauma care who may see spinal injuries pertaining to motorcycle accidents.
Methods
A focused search was carried out using the radiology information system (RIS) of all patients who were treated at our tertiary referral centre.
Results
A pictorial review was created with cases selected based on educational value of imaging findings and/or subsequent neurosurgical/intensive care management.
Conclusions
We present a pictorial review of cases from our tertiary neurosciences referral centre of spinal injuries pertaining to high-speed motorcycle accidents with key education learning points for all practitioners involved in the trauma setting.
