The development towards ever higher bandwidth in the network technology advances unabated. Data centres are considered the highest place data technical requirements. Here condense information flows and will be processed in server farms, stored in storage area networks, through routers and switches to other areas of the network - locally and globally - routed. Data rates of 10 Gbit / s will not be enough in a few years, to meet the explosively growing bandwidth requirements in data centres. This has supported the international standardization bill and decided in May 2012 by IEEE 802.3 with a large majority the creation of a 40GBase-T Study Group. This presentation goes through the reasons why and what copper solutions will be available.
