Profile of Anders Wittrup
Anders Wittrup is resident physician in oncology at Skåne University Hospital in Lund and group leader of the RNA Therapeutics in Cancer group at Lund University and Wallenberg Center for Molecular Medicine in Lund. Anders Wittrup holds a PhD from Lund University and performed postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School/Boston Children's Hospital in the laboratory of prof. Judy Lieberman. In our current research we have two main focus areas: First, we develop methods to study the process of cytosolic delivery of RNA. In particular, we have developed high resolution microscopy methods to study RNA delivery in living cells and have been pioneers in the development of sensors for endosomal escape. Second, based on the insights from these studies we are developing novel strategies to enhance RNA delivery to tumors. These efforts have the potential to specifically turn off driving cancer genes and ultimately halt disease progression.
