Profile of Dr Prashant Srivastava

Dr Srivastava is currently working at National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London as a Lecturer (Assistant Prof.) in computational biology. The primary focus of Dr Srivastava’s research has been in improving our understanding of the regulation of gene expression and translating this knowledge to new therapeutic insights. In recent work, he has led large scale computational analyses which have identified novel neuroinflammatory pathways for epilepsy and mapped their regulation leading to a new patented drug target for epilepsy (Srivastava et al, 2018 Nature Communications). In addition to gene-networks, he has also developed and applied new methodology for the analysis of post-transcriptional RNA modifications such as RNA-editing (RE) in disease, leading to the first-ever genome-wide differential RE association study in any disease (Srivastava et al, Genome Res., 2017). We are currently developing new avenues and methods for single-cell genomics and also translating these methods to better inform diseases.
