AbstractFlow cytometry is a technique valued as a powerful method of generating large volumes of detailed, multiparameter data. Although the value of flow cytometry in a wide variety of applications has long been appreciated, the adoption of flow cytometry as a screening method has been hampered by limitations associated with handling large numbers of samples. Bio-Rad developed the ZE5 Cell Analyzer to address the evolving needs of high-throughput flow cytometry. It combines 30 parameter, five laser, high resolution data acquisition with fast plate handling, high sampling rates, and low assay volumes, to facilitate assay miniaturization. The ZE5 Cell Analyzer also addresses the key challenges of reducing carryover between samples, minimizing the chance of blockages and maintaining cell viability. Combined with features that facilitate long periods of hands-off uninterrupted operation and its suitability for easy integration into robotic workcells, this instrument represents the next step in high-throughput flow cytometry and screening.
